FieldWind is an extension of SiteWind designed to aid in the on-site assessment of the proposal turbine layouts. FieldWind brings SiteWind data and a GPS-equipped laptop computer to the field, allowing realtime, on-site modifications.
Wind Field jobs done using FieldWind.
FieldWind aids in the field verification of proposed turbine layouts by allowing the user to determine real-time answers to questions regarding turbine re-colotation due to civin enginering or other constraints during site visits.
FieldWind orients the user to the surrounding topography and proposed plant yout, especially necessary in wooded sites where it is difficult to derermine on's present position with respect to the local terrain.
FieldWind greatly assists in the refinement of the site layout for locations where the maximum wind resource is in the downslopong areas rather that on ridgetops.
FieldWind aids in tighly constrained layouts where small re-locations can affect multiple siting criteria simultaneously.
FieldWind is the perfect tool to obtain the maximum profits from a micrositting study done using SiteWind™.
The FieldWind system constist of a GPS reciever connected to a laptop computer running ArcGIS software with a GPS interface module. This allows the user to determine the present location in real-time with respect to the wind map, the proposed turbine layout, local dwellings, topography, landcover, wetlands, microwave beam paths, property boundaries, transmission lines, roads and other important siting features. In addition, the user has the ability to view, query, modify, and create spatial data while in the field. This allows the user to modify turbine layouts and consider all competing design criteria in real-time.
FieldWind is an optional SiteWind™ service. It's provided in the field along with the expertise of an Meteosim TrueWind siting specialist.
